It’s official: although it is not pretty yet, the garden is officially temporarily enclosed, so there should not be any more rabbit damage. I suppose it’s possible, however, that there might be some deer catapulting themselves over the fence. Â Here’s how the garden looked this morning:
closing in the gaps
Slowly but surely we are finishing the fence. Today we worked on keeping the rabbits out on the east side. We only worked for a couple of hours really, but Dwight and Dad were able to finish one side–because Dwight didn’t have to work today because of rain. It was a perfect day, however, for fence building! Meanwhile, I trimmed.
paradise lost?
So far I have been only posting positive thoughts and pics of the garden. Now it is time for a little good, bad, and ugly–in that order.
perimeter, continued
Imagine my surprise when we pulled in to show Colin the progress on the garden, and we found Dwight in the middle of digging his tenth hole of the day!! Lots of progress was made–and some decisions, too, regarding the gate and garden shed placement.
establishing the perimeter
No news to report. Here are pics of our work from a couple of nights ago when we finished too late to have any light for pictures.
setting fence posts
Here’s a look at what my hands looked like after this evening’s post setting extravaganza:
We were able to complete one of the long sides of the fence. It took me 20 minutes to dig the first hole; I was unable to complete the second hole; however, Dwight came along and finished them. When I had a free moment, I quickly planted another four rows of Blue Lake bush beans. As usual, it was too dark to take a pic of the finished work.
mother’s day bouquet
What is not to like about this bouquet of landscape timbers artfully arranged in a 100-gallon vase (pronounced vaaaaz, of course)? Thank you, Bill!
